WAGR Rankings

The World Amateur Golf Ranking is a global ranking of elite amateur golfers, offered by The R&A and the USGA.

What it is

The World Amateur Golf Ranking, or WAGR, comprises a women's ranking and a men's ranking for elite amateur players. It is offered by The R&A and the USGA as a global service to golf.

Who it covers

Elite amateur golfers worldwide, across a defined list of recognised amateur competitions. It is not a junior ranking. Most juniors do not appear in WAGR, and those who do have typically reached the level of national and international amateur championships rather than junior events.

How a golfer becomes ranked

By competing in amateur competitions that WAGR recognises. Position reflects results in those competitions over a rolling period, and the ranking is republished on a regular cycle. The list of counting events and the current methodology are published by The R&A and the USGA.

Why it matters to a junior

For most junior golfers WAGR is context rather than a target: it is the ranking the amateur game uses at the level above junior golf. It is useful to understand because it is the system that follows players into college and elite amateur competition.

This is an independent organisation that operates separately from the tour. Whether a given event on our schedule is counted by this system is determined by that organisation, not by us. For rankings, eligibility, and current rules, go to the source.
